New clinical research
continues to support a natural way to bolster the body’s immune response
The peer-reviewed journal, Advances in Therapy, recently published the results of
a randomized, double- blind, placebo-controlled
study1
that found the immune supplement EpiCor®
can help reinforce the body’s innate immune response by bolstering salivary immunoglobulin
A (sIgA), one of the body’s first lines of defense. Researchers also reported improvements
in nasal and sinus health in individuals taking the supplement over the course of
12 weeks. This research builds on already positive findings from earlier controlled
trials showing that EpiCor® can
help activate crucial immune defense cells (e.g., natural killer cells)2
and help individuals guard their immunity and feel better.3,4

Epicor® is an all-natural fermentation
product of baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) that has been the subject
of both experimental and clinical research documenting its immune-modulating potential.
Natrol developed its most recent innovative wellness product, Immune Boost [www.NatrolImmuneBoost.com],
using the clinically validated ingredient Epicor®
in combination with other vital immune nutrients such as vitamin D, selenium, vitamin
C and zinc.†
Epicor® is a registered trademark
of and manufactured by Embria Health Sciences, LLC, Akeny, IA.
In the first study
of its kind, two of nature’s most important nutrient super-stars will take center
stage
Scientists at Harvard Medical School and Brigham Women’s Hospital will determine
the impact of Omega-3 fish oil and Vitamin D on cardiovascular and cellular health.
Funded through the National Institutes of Health, the study—dubbed the
Vitamin D and Omega 3 VITAL trial (VITamin D and OmegA-3 TriaL)—will evaluate
20,000 men and women over a period of five years.
Fish oil and vitamin D are two of the most recognized supplements among consumers
today. Unfortunately, very few foods naturally contain vitamin D or the omega-3
fats EPA and DHA; therefore, achieving an optimal intake through diet alone can
be difficult. Nutrition surveys suggest that the majority of Americans fail to consume
enough vitamin D from food sources and dietary supplements combined.5
Furthermore, the usual dietary intake of EPA and DHA in the United States is only
about 150 mg per day—not enough for health benefits.6†
Natrol has created Fish Oil + Vitamin
D3, a convenient once-a-day product that combines 1,000 mg fish oil with high
potency vitamin D (1,000 IU) to help consumers achieve a healthy intake of omega-3
fats and vitamin D for optimal health.†
Researchers uncover
probiotic’s ability to influence immunity at the genetic level
Although the immune bolstering effects of probiotics have been documented in the
scientific literature, a recent
study has confirmed for the first time that one specific healthy bug, known
as Lactobacillus plantarum, works at the genetic level to support the body’s
natural immune resistance.7 Scientists found that healthy adults ingesting
L. plantarum exhibited a specific gene expression profile in the gastrointesintal
tract that favored up-regulation of the body’s response to an immune challenge.†
Earlier research has documented the ability of probiotics to help strengthen gut
immune defense mechanisms.8 And considering that 70% of the body’s immune
system is in the digestive tract,9 it’s really no surprise that ingesting probiotics
can impact digestion and help people stay healthy.10
Natrol’s most recent innovative product
Probiotic Intestinal Maximum Care features IntestiBiotic™, a proprietary blend
of four clinically validated strains.†
